A generic customized predictor corrector approach for accelerating EMTP-like simulations

Résumé

In this paper, we introduce a new concept for improving numerical simulation performances for electromagnetic transients. Several methods already exist but take the sinusoidal structure of simulated signals into account in the modeling, and thus modify the original equations system. Our method improves variable time step prediction-correction schemes by taking the oscillating characteristics of the variables into account within the predictor step while still solving for the original EMT problem in the corrector part. Such an approach does not restrict modeling. The method leads to significant computation gains on simple test cases (further validation will be conducted on larger setups later on).
